The ET-300 Mini Educator E-Collar Remote Dog Training Collar

If you have a large dog breed, the Educator e-collars are a fine choice to help with training. The Educator ET-300 Mini has nothing less than five-star reviews and for good reason.
Daily, we recommend this training collar to dog owners because it is simply the best entry-level training collar for the price. It can also be used for about 90% of the circumstances customers require for their desired training goals.
The Educator Mini also has 5 training modes. Using the Vibration followed by low-level Momentary Stimulation mode will quickly teach your dog to respond to vibration in only a brief period of time.
Proudly assembled in the USA.

The training modes include:

  • Continuous and Momentary Stimulation/Tapping (Vibration)
  • Continuous and +25 Booster Stimulation/Tapping (Vibration)
  • Momentary and +25 Booster Stimulation/Tapping (Vibration)
  • Tapping Non-Stim Correction Only
  • Tapping (Vibration) Correction followed by Momentary Stimulation

Details:

  • 1/2 Mile Range for one dog
  • For dogs 5 pounds and larger
  • High quality e-collar does not emit any type of "shock".
  • Stimulation levels from 0-100 with a booster from 1-60
  • Dual charger battery; 2-hour full charge
The design of this unit is impeccable. The receiver-collar is one of the smallest money that can buy with measurements of 2.0” x 1.5" x 1.1” and weighing in at only 2.4 ounces. It can work for dogs as small as five pounds.
Along with its vibration only mode (Tapping Sensation), it also has one hundred levels of static stimulation. This gives the user various correction levels, allowing you to turn it down so low it’s gentle enough for small dogs but has enough kick for larger dogs as well. The unit and collar are made of durable materials like stainless steel buckles and nylon to ensure it lasts.
At first glance this new, rounded style remote seems a bit awkward, but nothing could be further from the truth. The ergonomic, user-friendly, stop watch style design fits perfectly in your hand with its buttons right at your fingertips.
The Educator Mini has many unique benefits that aren't available with other brands. It offers a lock & set feature, where after finding the lowest stimulation level your dog responds to, you can save the setting into the transmitter.
It also has a booster function you can use during high distraction situations where your dog may need a bit more stimulation to get his attention. This feature also allows you to preset a higher stimulation level (1 to 60) into the transmitter. With other brands, you would constantly be fiddling with the stimulation levels. It is easy to accidentally overstimulate your dog, especially in dangerous situations where you need to act quickly. With the lock & set and booster features, this is no longer a concern as everything is preset in advance. You don’t even need to take your eyes off your dog to change settings.
The advanced Control Of Stimulation used in all Educator collars gives the owner the ability to fine-tune the perfect stimulation of the training collar for most temperaments of dogs. This COS improves training results and provides a better training experience for the owner and dog alike.
With the night tracking feature, now you and other people (cars too!) can clearly identify your dog at night or in low light situations with the bright tracking light on the receiver-collar providing visibility for your furry friend. The tracking light is controlled remotely by the transmitter and can be set to flash or stay lit continuously.
If you haven't noticed by now, we love this compact remote trainer and cannot say enough good things about it. Beside all the outstanding features mentioned above, it's durable, reliable, watertight and submersible, fully rechargeable with a two-hour quick charge, has an LCD screen, a half-mile range and a tremendous bang for your buck.
If you've done your research, I don't have to tell you that you will not find a higher quality, feature-rich dog training system on the market at this price! The Educator e-collars are some of the best dog collars on the market.
If a half mile is enough range and your dog isn't overly stubborn, the Educator 300TS Mini is the way to go! If you need something with a bit more range, check out the ET-400 that has the range of up to three-quarters of a mile.
If your dog is over thirty pounds and has a stubborn streak, consider the ET-800 that has a one-mile range. There is even an option available for small dogs with the ME-300 Micro Educator.
This remote e-collar couples the same popular transmitter mentioned here, the ET-300 Mini, with the all new RX-070 Micro Receiver for small dogs. The RX-070 is an all around smaller version of the RX-090 Mini Educator Receiver at approximately 20% smaller, 20% lighter and 20% less stimulation.
For even more small dog considerations, the contact points are approximately 20% closer to one another. The collar can also be turned 90 degrees on the strap for a "fore and aft" contact point position, rather than having the contact points going around the neck.
Like the ET-300, it is still rated for dogs five pounds and up, but this newer configuration allows for more options when fitting it to a very small dog. For information about this collar and how to use it with small dogs, read more here (LINK TO ARTICLE ABOUT E-COLLARS FOR SMALL DOGS).

Why Use a Remote Training Collar for a Large Dog?

When your dog is heavier and stronger than you are, it might make you feel like they’re in charge and taking you where they want to go. This happens especially during walks. If you don’t stop them from pulling you, you might put yourself, your furry friend, and others in danger.
A pulling dog can turn into a bad situation real fast. As a large dog owner, you need to remember that it is not about brute strength and who is tougher or bigger than the other.
It’s all about having the right tools and proper training. A regular collar may not be the right tool for your dog.
The basis of dog training is the basis for motivating and changing behavior in humans, from kindergartners to corporate accountants.
You have to set expectations and communicate them in such a way that the person you are trying to train or motivate understands them. You also have to have the ability to correct the behavior in a time-sensitive and precise manner.
Suppose your furry friend reacts almost one hundred percent of the time when he is on a leash. This is where types of collars like prong collars or martingale collars (or loop) are useful, but if your dog is not on a leash, their reaction is not as reliable because they can easily ignore your reaction.
These tools, like dog harnesses and choke collars, aren't helpful when your dog isn't on their leash. If you don’t have a way to reinforce the command besides shouting at them, you are effectively training them it is okay to ignore you when off-leash.
If you have to ask more than once, you are training them that this is a request that they only have to listen to when they're so inclined. In that situation, you have no ability to enforce the command.
The best collars are the ones that help you enforce commands on or off the dog leash.
You can teach your large dog to behave appropriately in every setting with a little help from an e-collar. A well-trained pup is truly a man's best friend.
Some major reasons to consider using an e-collar that we'll discuss here include better communication with your dog, faster training of basic commands, and being able to teach your dog not to bark or jump.
An e-collar is also a less stressful way of dog training with the ease and speed at which the dog learns.

Teach Your Dog to Stay in Your Yard

One of the major reasons to use an e-collar is that it helps train your dog to stay in your yard. As a dog owner, one of the scariest ideas is your dog running away from home and this requires training them to stay in your yard, an essential part of dog training. A remote collar is the best way to transition your dog to go off-leash throughout the yard, especially without a fence. An e-collar allows you to let your pooch roam nearby, so you don't have to worry about them running away. Within a few short weeks of training, you can give your dog the joy of freedom off-leash and feel confident of them not wandering off. This same tactic can also be used to help with loose leash training.

Communicate With Your Dog Better Than Ever

This type of training collar is a fantastic communication device that provides off-leash freedom for your dog. Remote training collars allow you to better communicate commands and provide extra control without you having to raise your voice. Your pooch will get clear feedback from you with an e-collar. This feedback comes from the various modes of stimulation that the e-collar provides your pooch. When you're figuring out what setting your dog will respond best you can test the various settings on your own hand if you're worried about using it on your best friend first. Keep in mind that your skin is often more sensitive than the dog's neck because of its fur and skin. If your dog is a puller, you can tell them to stop with the correct use of the e-collar's stimulation. A no-pull harness or no pull collar does not provide the dame type of communication. With good communication from this device, your training sessions will be much less time-consuming.

You Can Train Your Dog To Bark Less (Really!)

Even the best dogs can turn into nightmare yappers when someone shows up at the front door. Another reason to use an e-collar is to give your dog negative reinforcement for barking. Introducing your dog to an e-collar will help reinforce the no-barking policy in your home or apartment. This is especially handy when you have a newborn baby or young child at home.

E-Collars Can Make Training Less Stressful For You

Superb results happen much faster when your dog is wearing an e-collar. Stress and frustration levels as a dog owner become much less because your dog's behavioral problems will start to go away. With a remote collar, you won't have to worry about sacrificing weeks and months of training to notice slight changes in behavior. Dog trainers and pet owners can appreciate plenty of positives after merely a few remote collar training sessions.

You Can Stop Your Dog From Jumping

If your pooch is acting out of control and continues to jump on guests that are entering your home, that is another reason to consider getting an e-collar for your dog. As soon as your dog jumps up, you apply the stimulation and train them to not jump. Eventually, you may just have to have the collar on the dog in order to discourage jumping. Training collars should not be by any means a way of punishing, but to teach them not to get overly excited when anyone enters your residence.

Are E-Collars Humane?

Some dog advocates who unfamiliar with electronic training collars consider them inhumane. When used correctly, nothing could be further from the truth. Electronic training collars, or remote training collars, have been around a long time and regularly used by professionals. Working dog trainers who carried out commands remotely utilized the earliest models. These early collars had limited stimulation settings and it was unpleasant for the dogs who wore them. These dog collars are the origin of the term "shock collar". But its usefulness as an educational tool was undeniable. Some 20 years ago, the training community underwent a change that brought a gentler way of training. Leaders in the remote training collar industry have responded and today's collars are a result of this gentle evolution. We never recommend using e-collars on puppies, however.
There are some people that consider using a remote collar a strict, harsh approach. Detractors of the usage of e-collar have also said the decision to use an e-collar is motivated by ego. This is definitely not the case and could not be farther from the truth. What it comes down to is safety. What if you’re on an outing when your dog scents and sees a squirrel and takes off after the squirrel. There could be a busy highway a few hundred yards away or another person nearby may have an aggressive and dangerous dog. Suddenly, the need for a command obeyed one hundred percent of the time becomes serious. An e-collar allows you to respond and react quickly to ensure the safety and security of your dog.

Are Training Collars ‘Shock Collars’?

We are asked this question all the time. We usually take the collar off of the dog, ask them to hold the attachment points in their hand and then press its continuous stimulation button. Most dogs are usually set at level one, where the sensation is barely noticeable. It's important to also note nerve tissue in a human hand is usually much more sensitive than in a dog’s neck with the lack of fur.
The reality is stimulation, when set and used correctly, simply annoys the dog but does not harm it. We know this because we tested the collars by holding the contact points in the palm of our hands and pressing the stimulation button. The sensation is said to be like an insect or flea crawling on your skin. If you are concerned about your dog's comfort when using an e-collar, we recommend testing it on yourself first.
The vibration setting on your cellphone alarm is more of an annoyance than level one on any of these remote training collars. When it is time for us to wake up, it's annoying. Because we are annoyed, we wake up and are therefore responding to the annoyance, which is the same idea behind remote training collars. The sensation is not designed to be painful.

Remember to Use An E-Collar Responsibly

As long as your dog is appropriately conditioned and taught to understand and know what the stimulation means from the e-collar, they won't go into a panic every time they receive stimulation. If you haven't yet introduced your dog to an e-collar, they might act a little timid and hesitant at first. It is always a good idea to handle the collar in sight of the dog and then attach the remote training collar for a few minutes, making an adjustment or two and rewarding them with a treat. You don't want the to feel like it's a means of punishment every time the collar is on. We also recommend consulting a professional dog trainer before you decide to use an e-collar and again when beginning the collar conditioning process.
